NatureCOOP rating

NatureCOOP is not affiliated to any supplier - other than the fact that we like or respect the ethics or product quality of some products verses others. However, we have devised a rating system which we hope maybe useful in your product selection. We don't mind being a little opinionated if we feel it will help someone. Please note that our ratings do NOT take into account the price of the item.

Overall about 25% of products are rated to be "GOOD", 50% to be "BETTER" and up to 25% to be "BEST". Products can go both up and down within ratings. We do not differentiate between ratings within a categorization. We are not able to disclose the details of our rating system - it is only our opinion based on a scoring system.

How we rate products

The rating system consists of two parts: MyHealth and ......MyWorld!!

Our MyHealth rating takes into account the quality of the raw materials, the formula itself, how the pill is put together, and anything else we feel is relevant. This rating does not necessarily endorse the product for any specific health concern. This is because we do not give specific health treatment recommendations - you should see your medical doctor for this. Also because a specific supplement formulation might be suitable for one indication but only partly suitable for another. Hence we focus upon the supplement formulation. We use a scoring system that accounts for factors such as dosage per tab or capsule, coating, time release, whether pharmaceutical quality ingredients are used, and many other considerations. Where there is a natural and/or non-animal based raw material we will favor that over a synthetic alternative. We also aim to favor high ratings for supplements with good bioavailability.

Our MyWorld rating is based on how much we admire the ethics of the supplying company. What is their approach to doing business? How do they treat their customers, workers, retailers and community? What is their approach to packaging and other operational issues that potentially impact the environment? We also give attention to manufacturing quality control - does the company outsource? Does the company invest in the industry through fact based research or does it focus on just making generic products or outlandish marketing? Through our retail and trade links we are not privileged to any non public information. Very few companies achieve a "BEST" rating since there are only a handful of companies that in our opinion that fully meet these criteria - yet.

How to make best use of this rating system

The rating for a given item is shown on the product description page. But in addition you can take advantage of this feature and compare the MyHealth rating both when viewing products within a category and within the Search function.

Why some products are not rated

We sell so many products that we may not have personal experience of all of them. Where this is the case - we have not rated the product. This can be true particularly of new arrival products. If you have an opinion on a particular product please add your opinion directly to the product on-line.

Ratings are only shown for those products that have been reviewed. For products that have not been rated, the above images for the MyHealth and the MyWorld rating do not appear.
